Overview

Established in 2025, the Nutrition & Dietetics Department at Muthayammal Memorial College of Arts and Science is dedicated to offering high-quality education and trailblazing research and various opportunities inthe vibrant field of nutrition. The department offers a features of full-scale program B.Sc., Nutrition and dietetics, designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory skills essential for success in their field.

The course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to promote health through proper nutrition, Manage diet related diseases and contribute to public health initiatives. This inters disciplinary field combines aspects of Food Science, Food Chemistry, Human Physiology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Food Technology and Health Education like Dietetics.

In addition of these subjects, blending theoretical knowledge with practical applications, students often engage in industrial and hospital training, surveys, projects and internships to gain  hands-on-experience. Also graduates can purse various career paths including clinical dietician/nutritionist, community nutritionist, roles in educational sectors & food industries and entrepreneurship. The demand for nutrition professionals is rising due to increased awareness of health and wellness, offering a job and self employment opportunities. Further education enhances career prospects and provides a competitive edge in the field.

Eligibility: Candidate for admission to the first year of the degree of Bachelor of Science Course shall be required to have passed the Higher secondary examination (Academicor vocational stream with Biology along with Chemistry under higher secondary board of examination Stream) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or an Examination accepted by the Syndicate.
